Northern railway line project in Sri Lanka “could open next month”

Y.K. Sinha, India’s high commissioner to Sri Lanka, says the phase of the northern railway line project to Jaffna, which is partly funded by India, could be opened by next month.

The high commissioner made this statement at the 68th Indian Independence Day celebrations held in Colombo on August 15 morning.

The 68th Indian Independence Day celebrations in Colombo got underway at the residence of the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Y.K. Sinha.

The event, which featured a number of cultural performances, was attended by a large gathering, including members of the Indian community in Sri Lanka.
