Victims of Gampaha accident “were returning from a funeral” (Video)

Three (3) people were killed in a motor accident which took place in the Delgoda area Gampaha.

The Police Media Unit said that the accident occured early Thursday morning when a van collided with a lorry. The accident took place at approximately 5.15 in the morning of Thursday July 31 at the Polhena Junction in Udupila, Gampaha.

According to our correspondent, a van plying from Kekirawa to Biyagama had collided with a lorry transporting metal from Biyagama to Weliweriya. The victims, two males and one female were those travelling in the van.

Reports suggest that they were returning from funeral. The victims have been identified as fifty-eight-year-old Mahinda Lakshman Palihakkara, a resident of Nugegoda, forty-eight-year-old Mahinda Herath Meddegoda, a resident of Angoda and seventy-five-year-old D.M.S. Dissanayake.

The remains of the victims are placed at the Gampaha Hospital. The injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
