The seven sailors of the  Sri Lanka Navy arrested in connection with allegedly molesting  an eleven year old girl in Karainagar, have been released on bail.

The suspects were produced at an identification parade on Friday evening prior to being released on bail. The suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother. A demonstration was held on Friday morning in Karainagar, Jaffna to protest  against the incident.

Residents and local politicians participated in the demonstration. The arrested sailors were produced in the Jaffna Court on Friday afternoon. The Police Media Spokesperson says the seven sailors were released on bail following the identification parade, as they had not been identified.
