The Sabaragamuwa University will be closed until July 21 due to strong winds that are reported to be lashing the region.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Chandana Sri Udawatte said the hostels of the university have sustained damages following strong winds in the area on Saturday.
He added that the decision was also reached after taking into consideration that the students were in no mental state to face the examinations at the university following the breakdown in the supply of electricity, and adverse weather conditions.
The Vice Chancellor went on to say that the university will revert to its usual schedule from July 21.
