The National Child Protection Authority says that investigations have been launched in Anuradhapura and Sigiriya to arrest those connected to a child abuse racket allegedly involving a French national.

The Police Inquiry Unit of the authority said that three suspects believed to be involved in trafficking children to a suspect French national have been arrested in Negombo and Galle.

A suspect arrested in Negombo was placed in remand custody after being produced before the Fort Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, while two other suspects who were arrested in connection with the incident were ordered to be further remanded after being produced before the Galle Magistrate on Wednesday.

The court was informed that details pertaining to the 11 children who were provided to the French national from Sri Lanka had been revealed.
