The national event to award teaching appointments to 2,800 national science diploma holders was held on Tuesday under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Appointments were made to national science diploma graduates of 2011 and 2013 at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo. The appointments cover a range of subjects including science, maths and information technology.

According to the Presidential Media Unit, these teachers will be used to fill up existing vacancies throughout the country, both at national schools and provincial schools.
