Two people were injured in an accident that took place in the Katukurunda area along Galle road.

The accident took place after two individuals collided with a Special Task Force vehicle. The police stated that that the incident took place during the procession of the feast of the St. Anthony’s Church in Katukurunda.

The police added that the vehicle was travelling towards Colombo and that the two individuals sustained minor injuries after colliding with it.

An individual who witnessed the incident said:  “The STF came over the buffels and ran over these two people. They went over them when they reversed as well. They should have thought about the procession. This was not a musical show; this was a church event. Army personnel should not drive like this. They should have acted in a more disciplined way, setting an example.”

The two individuals who were injured in the incident are receiving treatment in the Nagoda Hospital.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the driver of the STF vehicle has been arrested in connection with the incident.
