Fifteen police teams deployed to investigate Aluthgama, Beruwala and Welipenna unrest

Fifteen police teams have been deployed to conduct investigations into the recent unrest that took place in the Aluthgama, Beruwala and Welipenna areas.

Police stated that five teams from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Colombo Crimes Division have been appointed to carry out this task.

Furthermore, 20 police teams have been assembled to speed up the investigations in order to bring the perpetrators to book.

The Police Headquarters also stated that orders have been issued to OICs, deputy police officers in charge of the Western Province and senior officers who are in charge of the investigative teams to take immediate measures to arrest perpetrators, irrespective of their posts or positions.
