University of Ruhuna to resume activity

The University of Ruhuna that was temporarily closed owing to concerns related to the security of students will resume activity in four faculties on Monday.

Professor Gamini Senanayake , vice-chancellor of the university, says that the faculties that are due to commence activities on Monday include the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Management and Finance faculty and the faculties of Ocean Sciences and Technology.

The vice-chancellor notes that students residing in the university dormitories should report to the premises.

The faculties were temporarily closed down on June 3 due to unrest among university students and residents.

Professor Senanayake added that a special programme is in place to safeguard the security of students.
