A special three-day Dengue eradication operation was launched last Friday to halt the spread of Dengue. Sunday was the third day of the operation, and the Samithipura area in Mattakkuliya was one of the areas that came under inspection.
The operation was launched in the area after it was identified that the area had a high mosquito density. The Ministry of Health said over 71,000 locations were inspected under the programme, while mosquito larvae were discovered from about 1,800 locations.
Meanwhile, 53,300 houses in the Colombo Municipal Council area were also inspected. Newsfirst toured several areas in Colombo and its suburbs and located many mosquito-conducive environments. When we toured the area for the second time on Sunday, they remained uncleaned.
