The strike commenced by the Medical Officers of Health in the Nuwara Eliya district based on an incident where Minister Arumugam Thondaman is said to have threatened a MOH officer in Kotagala, continues.
The Government Medical Officers Association said that they will not call off the strike till they arrive at a decision
following discussions with the Unions of MOH Branches on Saturday.
The strike is taking place at thirteen MOH officers operating under the Central Province Ministry of Health.
The main demand of the GMOA is to ensure the safety of the MOH officers.
Member of the Media Committee of the GMOA Samantha Ananda said that their future course of action will be decided at a special discussion to be held today.
