The Government Medical Officers Association has decided to halt services at the Kotagala Medical Officers Unit.

Dr. Sidath Wijesekara, media committee member of the GMOA, said this step was taken following a threat made to Jagath Abeygunawardena — who is a medical officer for health — by a minister.

He further noted a police complaint has been lodged in this regard.

Meanwhile, a group of estate workers staged a protest against the Kotagala medical officer for health, obstructing the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road.

They charged the officer did not provide them with necessary medical facilities.
