Uva Poson Udanaya lights up for a third day

Today marks the third day of the Uva Poson Udanaya. The Poson Udanaya is being organised by the Uva Paranagama United Buddhist Society together with News1st.

The Uva Poson Udanaya is centered around the Sri Sudharshanarama Puraathana Viharaya, in Uma Ela Uva Paranagama. A large number of devotees flocked to the temple till dawn today to pay homage to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha.

The sacred relics which were placed at the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya over the past two days were taken back to the Yatihalgala Raja Maha Viharaya today following religious observances.

The Poson Kalapaya was declared open on Friday by Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare, Dilan Perera. The Poson Zone features a Pandol, songs of devotion as well as a  replica of Mihintale.

Dansalas were held on Saturday as well for the devotees who flocked to Uva Paranagama.

A special screening of the film Sri Siddhartha Gautama  was also held while News1st screen tests were also conducted.

An art competition for children was held at the Uva Poson Udanaya today.

A large number of children representing various age categories took part in the competition.
