The Uva Poson Udanaya will be declared open at Uma Ela in Uva Paranagama, Welimada on Thursday.
Our correspondents say that all preparations for the event have been completed.
Uva Poson Udanaya is being held, centred around the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya in Uma Ela, Uva Paranagama.
The event is a joint initiative of the Uva Paranagama United Buddhist Organisation and Newsfirst.
The sacred hair relic of Lord Buddha at the Yatihalagala Raja Maha Viharaya will also be featured at the Poson Zone.
The procession carrying the sacred relic is scheduled to depart the Yatihalagala Raja Maha Viharaya at 6 a.m. Thursday and will reach the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya in Uma Ela at about 3 p.m. via Nuwara Eliya.
The exposition of the sacred hair relic will continue until Saturday.
The Uva Poson Udanaya, Poson zone will also feature Pandols, lanterns, performances of songs of devotion, dansal and a replica of Mihintale.
An art exhibition for school children in the area is also to be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Medawala Maha Vidyalaya.
The preliminary round of the songs of devotion competition organised for schoolchildren in the Uva Paranagama and Welima Education Divisions parallel to the Uva Poson Udanaya, was held on Tuesday.
Ten teams that displayed exceptional talent will participate in the final on Saturday.
A discussion on the preparations for the Poson Zone was held at the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya in Uma Ela on Wednesday.
