During the cabinet media briefing held Thursday, officials focused on the issue of credibility of television ratings.
A special meeting in this regard was held on Wednesday with the presence of heads of media institutions.
Cabinet Spokesperson Keheliya Rambukwella spoke at this meeting.
“There was a request made to the government to appoint two representatives to look into the issue surrounding LMRB. Since there are two government channels and nearly 20 private channels, as the minister and the secretary, we thought that we should discuss this cordially and exchange ideas. Such allegations are levelled all the time based on the credibility of the ratings. So we gathered the representatives of all leading media institutions in the country and had a fruitful discussion. During this discussion it was decided to appoint an expert committee to look into this issue and compile a report,” he said.
