The leaders of the SAARC nations were also in attendance for the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in New Delhi on Monday morning.
In what has been billed as a historic move, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was also in attendance today at Modi’s swearing-in, the first time that a Pakistani head of government has attended the swearing-in of an Indian Prime Minister since Independence in 1947.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, also flew in on Monday.
Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lyonchen Tsherin Tobgay arrived in New Delhi last evening and met with leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party today.
