Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Nandimithra Ekanayake expressed these views at a function held at the Galewela junior College on Tuesday.
“Just because we are politicians it doesn’t mean that we don’t age. Some seem to think that they don’t grow old. That is why they engage in thuggery, Go mad in earning money and never get satisfied. They think that they don’t die and grow old. But we politicians too have to face the realities of life. This cannot be prevented no matter how powerful you are. That is our fate as politicians. Though we are in this position today if we fall from here we would not receive any of this treatment. We too have disappointments because gentlemen politics are slowly deteriorating. Because of that those who engage in gentlemen politics tend to retire from politics.”
