This is the moment a mum-of-two was forced to throw her children from a fourth floor window as fire tore through their apartment.
Residents looked on in horror as Mila Aksakova, 36, launched Vanya, four, and Natalya, 13, from the 60ft-high opening as the flat’s exit became blocked off by flames.
Neighbours waited below to catch the children in a bedsheet and secure their miraculous escape.
Mila did not jump herself as she was worried the sheet would not hold her weight.
She was pulled from the burning building by firefighters a short time later and was treated for smoke inhalation. Miraculously both children were unharmed.
Around 150 residents were evacuated from the burning building in the village of Energetic, Russia.
Fire brigade spokesman Damian Bulgakov, 43, said: “The fire started in the ground floor flat where a disabled woman had been living.
“We are not sure exactly what caused it yet and are still investigating that.
“The problem for the family was that by the time they noticed the fire, it had cut off their opportunity to escape through the front door and that meant they had to use the windows.
“With smoke filling the flat, the mother made a decision to at least get her kids out before it was too late.”
