A media briefing was convened by the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development on Thursday morning.

Army Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya commented on the LTTE’s International activities.

He said: “The LTTE is a banned organisation in Canada. The United States has accepted that the diasporas in various countries are nourishing the LTTE. There is no issue if those who died in the North are remembered or if an alms-giving is held even at a Kovil. Commemorating the LTTE organisation in Sri Lanka will not be allowed. The LTTE is a banned organisation in Sri Lanka and thirty other countries. There will be no provision to host events to mark the LTTE .”
