Indian Intelligence officials from the Tamil Nadu State would interrogate Mohammed Zakir Hussain, a Sri Lankan Tamil arrested by Tamil Nadu police days before the recent terror attack in Chennai, said DGP B. Prasada Rao on Tuesday.
They would elicit information if Hussain and his handlers had planned any attacks here, he said at a press conference replying to a question if the terror operatives behind Chennai attack had targeted Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to Tamil Nadu DGP statement that the target of bomb planters could not have been Chennai, Mr. Rao said investigation was on to ascertain facts.
“Investigation is inconclusive on this angle. We’re not yet sure if the terror suspects planted the bombs in the train at Bangalore, Chennai or somewhere in between them,” Mr. Rao said. Only after confirming this, it can be established if the terror operatives wanted to target Andhra Pradesh, he explained.
Meanwhile, the central intelligence agencies had alerted the State on the possible car bomb blast at airports. Confirming receipt of the alert, Mr. Rao said security was heightened at all airports, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.
Security personnel at the airports’ parking lots were asked to be cautious and look out for suspicious objects and persons in the vicinity.
