Office trains have commenced operating on the Northern line on Friday morning after train services were suspended following the Pothuhera train accident.
The Railway Control Room stated that three office trains from the Mahawa, Kurunegala and Polgahawela train stations have commenced operations. The Railway Control Room stated that steps have been taken for the trains to use the secondary line as a temporary measure.
In the meantime, the night mail trains that set off from Palai, Batticoaloa and Trincomalee have reached Colombo. The Railway Control Room stated the Yal Devi train that left the Palai train station had reached Colombo at 5.45 on Friday morning.
Activity on the northern line was suspended following Wednesday’s train accident at Pothuhera which injured 68 individuals. The Railway Control Room stated that they intend restoring activity on the northern line by this evening.
