Teachers say govt. has not made payments for “GCE O/L paper-marking”

The General  Secretary of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Trade Union, Joseph Stalin, expressing his displeasure, claimed that  the government has not yet provided allowances for teachers involved in marking O/L examination papers.

The Secretary of the Teachers’ Welfare Society, Mahinda Jayasinghe added that over 20,000 teachers are facing financial difficulties as a result of this situation.

Meanwhile, Examinations Commissioner WMNJ Pushpakumara said that all arrears which add up to a sum of Rs. 400 million will be paid by the end of the day.
