Three persons suspected to be involved in attempts to revive the LTTE, including the wanted men, Gopi and Thevian, were killed in a confrontation with the army in Nedunkerni on Friday, Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said.

Army Media Spokesperson said that it is believed that another wanted suspect, Appan, was also among the dead.

The security forces had recently released photographs of the three suspects to the media, seeking public support to arrest them for attempting to revive the LTTE.

Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that a detachment had been deployed to the Nedunkerni area after information came to light that the suspects were hiding there. He said the shooting had occurred when the suspects attempted to flee.
