The foundation stone for the Eternal Flame of Youth, that is being constructed parallel to the World Conference on Youth that will be held in Sri Lanka, was laid at a ceremony held at the National Youth Services Council premises in Maharagama.
The Eternal Flame of Youth is being constructed under the sponsorship of the MTV and MBC Media Network.
The foundation stone for the Eternal Flame of Youth was laid under the auspices of the Acting Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development, Mohan Lal Grero.
Senior executives of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited and officials of Sri Lanka Youth were among the gathering that participated at this event.
The event was broadcast live on Sirasa TV from the National Youth Services Council premises in Maharagama and Stein Studios in Ratmalana.
Director (Operations) of Sri Lanka Youth, Ajith Naragala said: “When the Commonwealth Youth Summit was held in Sri Lanka, Sirasa TV, which has always joined hands with us, toured the country together with Sri Lanka Youth, providing media sponsorship and helping us to raise awareness among the people about the Commonwealth Summit. And today, through the Around the World in 40 Days programme, Sirasa TV together with Sri Lanka Youth is touring the world to raise awareness on the World Conference on Youth.”
Group Director, Electronic Media Business of The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited Nedra Weerasinghe shared these views;
“Being the first ever conference on this scale in this part of the world, it is fitting that MTV and MBC, the national broadcaster in Sri Lanka is at the forefront of driving this initiative through our media. Laying the foundation stone for this eternal flame, signifies the pivotal role that youth will play in our society for generations to come. The youth of a nation are after all the trustees of advancement and progression…”
