Pasanda Yapa Abeywardene tops Matara’s preferential votes

Preferential votes of several districts in which the provincial council polls were held, have been released.

According to the results , Pasanda Yapa Abeywardene who contested under the UPFA ticket, has obtained the highest number of preferential votes from the Matara District,  with the number standing at 76,870 preferential votes.

Chandima Rasaputra comes in second with 70509 preferential votes while Sarath Yapa is placed third with 47,090 preferential votes.

Chathura Galapatthi contesting under the UNP ticket has obtained the highest number of preferential votes from the Matara district for the UNP,with 27, 930 votes.

Jinadasa Kithulegoda secured the highest number of preferential votes for the JVP in the Matara district with 6173 preferential votes.

Ranjith Munasinghe who contested from the Democratic party from the Matara district has obtained 6690 preferential votes.

D.V Upul contesting from the United People’s Freedom Alliance from the Hamabantota district tops the list after securing 64, 995 preferential votes

M.K. Kasun secured 55,881 preferential votes and came in second from the Hambantota district.

Meanwhile, Ajith Rajapaksa secured 34,591 votes and came in third in the same district.

Tennakoon Nilame obtained the highest number of preferential votes from the UNP ticket in the Hambantota district with 28,825 votes.

Nimal Lal Chandra received 17, 991 votes while Nihal Waidyaarachchi received 13, 593 votes.

Nihal Galapaththi contesting from the JVP obtained 11,957 preferential votes.
