Differing with his government’s stand from voting at the UNHRC on the US-sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka, Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram says that New Delhi should have supported the resolution.
The Hindu quotes the Indian Finance Minister as saying “23 countries had supported it and we also should have supported even if it was a watered down one.”
Chidambaram had also said that the decision could have been taken by officials in the Indian External Affairs Ministry. Chidambaram pointed out that there was no consensus among political parties in the state over the issue.
