Police use tear gas to disperse protesters in Fort (video)

Police use tear gas and water cannons to disperse a group of university students engaged in a protest march in the Colombo Fort area.

The protest commenced on Wednesday morning near the Kelaniya University demanding a solution for problems with student accommodation at the university.

The police say that measures were taken to disperse the protesters as they were approaching the high security zone at the Presidential Secretariat.

Newsfirst reporters stated that the protesting students are currently at the Ceramic Junction in Colombo Fort. The protest march was started from Kelaniya University.
