The Elections Secretariat says that 985 complaints related to violation of election regulations have been received so far.

The Complaints Unit at the Secretariat stated the highest number of complaints were recorded from the District of Colombo, which is 194.

Accordingly, 85 complaints from Gampaha district and 93 from the district of Kalutara have been received so far.

In addition to this, the Elections Secretariat revealed that 74 complaints from Galle, 116 from Matara and 72 from Hambantota district have been received thus far.

Meanwhile, many of the complaints received were those against protest demonstrations and marches,  which is 187.

One hundred and fifty nine (159) other complaints were received against the display of illegal posters, cut-outs and banners.
