United National Party Colombo District Candidate S.M. Marikkar attended a public rally held in the Dematagoda area on Friday evening.

Speaking at the rally, S.M. Marikkar shared the following views:

“If I get elected to the Provincial Council I would commit myself to one thing. That is to improve the standard of education. The biggest companies in the country are established in and around central Colombo. However, most people are unemployed in Central Colombo.
They survive by allowing people to stay in their homes. I want to put a stop to this.”

“I will do this by providing training for unemployed youth. I will  commence a campaign calling on all major companies to employ 10% of our youth. If your children weren’t given the opportunity to study or if a path was not created for the youth to gain employment then don’t allow me or any other politicians to come and ask for your vote … ”
