Gunshots fired at high-ranking officials’ houses: new details revealed

 Gunshots were fired at residences of the Commissioner General of the Excise Department and the OIC of the special Investigations Unit of the Excise Department on Thursday morning.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said the shootings took place at residences located in Pamunugama and Rukmalgama. The shooting  at the residence of the Commissioner General of the Excise Department, Wasantha Hapuarachchi took place at 2 Thursday morning.

Evidence of the shooting was visible on a motor vehicle and a window of the house. It was reported that the Commissioner General was not at his residence during the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, another shooting took place at the residence of Rosmand Fernando, the OIC of the Special Investigations Unit at 3 a.m. Thursday. Two shots were reported to have been  fired. Damages were caused to two windows of the house as a result.

Police stated that two special units have been assigned to to conduct further investigations into the incident.
