Minister of External Affairs Professor G.L. Peiris is due to address the United National Human Rights Council session on Wednesday.

Permanent Representative to the UN, Ravinath Ariyasinha said that Minister G.L. Peiris will explain the government stance on the draft resolution presented calling for an international inquiry in the event that the Sri Lankan government fails to hold an independent and credible investigation into alleged human rights violations.

Speaking to Newsfirst Ravinath Ariyasinghe said that the Sri Lankan Government will take this opportunity to express its stance on the situation at hand.

The draft resolution for Sri Lanka was presented by the United States, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, Macedonia and Mauritius.
