Gampaha Zonal Director says ‘students’ caused closure of Bandaranayake College

Bandaranayake College in Gampaha has been closed indefinitely.

Zonal Education Director in Gampaha, S.K. Mallawarachchi says this step was taken as a result of the disruptive action of a group of students who were calling for the removal of the school principal.

Zonal Education Director, S.K. Mallawarachchi said that a group of students began acting in a disruptive manner following the opening bell at Bandaranayake College in Gampaha on Monday morning.

Police say that a journalist who covered the disturbance at the school was also set upon by students and that his camera was damaged. It is learnt that police had intervened to remove students from the school grounds.
