A public meeting was held by the Democratic Party in the Aggona area in Kolonnawa on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, Democratic Party Candidate from the Colombo District, Susil Kindelpitiya stated:

“We have come out now for our second mission and we will not turn back. We will continue to move forward till the democratic rights of the Sri Lankan people are confirmed. Friends, this is hard. There are rocks and stones on the way. But we are not prepared to turn back. We only say just one thing. The one thing that all of you can do is to take us out of this earth. If you can,  you may kill us. But you will never be liberated. This government has been here for twenty years but there is no joy in anyone’s life.”

Deputy Secretary of the Democratic Party, Anoma Fonseka also spoke at the meeting,

“When we work in the kitchen we tend to realise what exactly we do not have. How much we have to go through just to prepare one meal. So, this is the situation in our country. Hunger. But I think this government will not help anyone alleviate their hunger. They like it that we go hungry because then we will only talk about out stomachs. Then no one will talk about the problems that afflict our country.”
