The Police Headquarters says that twenty one complaints relating to the upcoming elections have been lodged thus far. Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that several police teams have been deployed in this regard.
The Police Media Spokesperson added that these police teams have been instructed to arrest the individuals who breach election laws.
Meanwhile, the Elections Secretariat noted that the 234 complaints have been lodged ahead of the March 29 polls.
The Secretariat added that a majority of the complaints amounting to 65, were reported from the Western Province
A majority of the complaints amounting to about 52, were reported with regards to illegal meetings, rallies and protests.
