Sri Lanka clinched victory of the 3 match ODI series against Bangladesh today by securing a 61 run win in the second ODI played in Mirpur.

Centurion  Kumar Sangakkara  walked away with the man of the match award.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first Sri Lanka got off to yet another inauspicious start loosing both openers for just 8 runs.

Vice Captain Dinesh Chandimal was dismissed cheaply as he was undone by Sohag Gazi.

However,  114 run 4th wicket stand between Ashan Priyanjana and Kumar Sangakkara steadied the Sri Lankan innings.

Priyanjana scored his second ODI half century while Sangakkara went on to score his 17th one day century.

Skipper Anjelo Mathews meanwhile hammered an unbeaten 56 runs as Sri Lanka posted 289 runs for the loss of 6  wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Rubel Hossain bagged 3 wickets for the hosts.

Batting in reply Bangladesh only managed to score 228 runs before being bowled out.

Skipper Musfiqur Rahim fought a solitary battle with a knock of 79 runs.

Lasith Malinga, Sachithra Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis and Thisara Perera shared 2 wickets a piece.
