The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has decided to make a recommendation to the government to revoke the death sentence.
Head of the SLHRC, Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa said that they decided to present this recommendation to the government, after having examined the punishments that are being enforced in other nations.
He said that they are recommending that the Sri Lankan government reduce the death sentence to a prison sentence for the convicts who are to face the death penalty at present.
