Education Minister, Bandula Gunawardene states that 20 marks are to be allocated for conversing in and listening to the English language at the Ordinary Level Examination in 2015.
The minister made statement while participating at a function in Colombo on Thursday.
“A proposal has been made. That is to allocate 20 marks at the Ordinary Level Examination in 2015 for conversing in the English language. We intend adding these marks to the English subject in the same manner that the practicals in dancing and art are added to the final marks of those subjects. I believe that by doing this the country’s school children who do not attend international and private schools will be able to use this universal language as an education tool.”
The launch of Buddhadasa Hewage’s Sinhala-English dictionary was held yesterday under the auspices of the education minister.
