Feroza Musammil the wife of the Mayor of Colombo, in a letter to Ranil Wickremesinghe has conveyed her decision to resign from the National Executive Committee of the United National Party.
In her letter to Wickremesinghe, she has informed the party leader that she is disassociating herself completely from the UNP.
She notes in her letter that she did not receive membership of the National Executive Committee of the UNP at the behest of her husband or as a result of him being the Mayor of Colombo.
Furthermore, she recollects the services rendered by her through the establishment of the Kantha Saviya programme, without the support of the Colombo Municipal Council.
She adds that although the only hope of UNP supporters is that the party be steered to victory, the conduct of the Leader and the Leadership Council has been detrimental to the trust placed by supporters in the party.
She also notes that treating the UNP as an inheritance of a handful of people, is unjust by the majority of party supporters.
