Four power plants that are under the purview of the Ceylon Electricity Board remain inoperative.

The first phase of the Norochcholai Power Plant remains inactive. However, engineers attempted to connect Phase two of the Norochcholai Power Plant to the national grid.

According to the engineers, the first trial was successful.

At a time when there are glitches at the Kelanitissa and Norochcholai Power Plants , the Ceylon Electricity Board released all water from the Mausakelle. Reservoir for routine  maintenance.

This measure was taken as maintenance on the tunnel from Canyon to Lakshapana was required. Remnants of the old Maskeliya town resurfaced when the reservoir was emptied.

The Canyon Power Plant is inactive due to maintenance. The national grid lost 300 mega Watts of Electricity due to technical failures at the Norochcholai Power Plant.

The Kelanitissa Thermal Power Plant remains inactive due to a fault in the cable that connects it to the national grid.

General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board Shavindranath Fernando noted that the gas turbine at the Kelnaitissa Powerplant is in operational status.
