The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has agreed to provide water supply for the people of Rathupaswala for a concessionary rate of Rs 3000.
Chief Incumbent of the Sri Sambuddhaththwa Jayanthi Vihara in Weliveriya, Ven. Theripaha Sridhamma Thera said, they arrived at this decision following a discussion with the Minister of Water Supply, Dinesh Gunawardena on Monday.
The chairman of the NWSDB, Karunasena Hettiarachchi had this to say,
“On the instructions of the President, a discussion was held on Monday with the participation of the Minister of Water Supply, the Environmental Society and myself . Accordingly, we were given several concessions. Samurdhi beneficiaries are able to obtain water supply by paying Rs.2000 while the others could obtain water supply by paying Rs.3000.
Speaking to Newsfirst, Ven. Theripaha Siridhamma Thera said:
“At the discussion held on Monday, the minister decided to provide water supply at a special rate of Rs 3000; that affects only these persons as they are facing a genuine problem. The people are to get back to us after consulting the civil societies.”
