Hansal Mehta will retell Sachin’s story, this time through the eyes of the legend’s elder brother Ajit Tendulkar.
After Shahid, his biopic on the slain lawyer Shahid Azmi, Hansal Mehta seems to have developed a taste for biographies. The filmmaker is now set to translate the story of another unsung hero on to celluloid, Sachin Tendulkar’s elder brother, Ajit Tendulkar.
Ajit, who is known to be a mentor and friend to the cricketing legend, has always preferred to stay away from the limelight.
A source says, “Hansal is very kicked about the project, he has had a long chat with a leading studio about it. He hasn’t met Ajit yet as the project is still at a nascent stage. His film will highlight the life of Ajit and his contribution to the creation of Sachin’s legend.”
The director will now start shooting his next, City Lights, but plans to develop the idea simultaneously.
When contacted, Hansal confirmed the news but said, “It is too early to talk about it. It’s at a premature stage.”
The source added, “The film is not a biopic on Sachin. The focus will be on Ajit who has always silently supported his younger brother while remaining out of the headlines. Hansal plans to focus on Ajit’s highs and lows as he sees Sachin grow into a world renowned icon.”
