Authorities say tonnes of SL currency found in Buddhist shrines in India

Additional Superintendent at Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Tamara Wijesuriya has stated to BBC that 20 tonnes of Sri Lankan currency has been found in Buddhist shrines in India.

She has also stated  to BBC that this situation has  caused a money inflation in Sri Lanka. Much of the currency which was given by  Sri Lankan pilgrims as offerings, has found from the Bodh Gaya.

She added that the discussions were held with the Indian authorities to get back the currency. Meanwhile, CBSL and the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs have decided to make people more aware of this issue.
