Venerable Theripaha Siridhamma Thero has once again requested the authorities to provide the locals in Rathupaswala with pipe-water, without an initial payment.
The venerable thero set off on foot to the office of Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa in Orutota Gampaha to hand over a letter with this request.
However, the Venerable Thero did not meet with the minister. The Venerable Theripaha Siridhamma Thero set off on foot from the Gam-oluwa Junction on Tuesday morning.
However, a group of police officers including the Officer In Charge of the Weliweriya Police stopped the Venerable Thero at the Balummahara Junction. The Venerable Thero said that the police officers stopped his procession citing that Minister Basil Rajapaksa was not in office at the time and that the letter can be handed over to Deputy Minister of Petroleum Industries Sarana Gunawardena.
Subsequently, the police officers accompanied thera to the residence of Deputy Mnister Sarana Gunawardena, however, the Deputy Minister was not in at that time.
