Due to the deep pressure area in the northern seas, the day to day activities of the public have come to a standstill in the Jaffna, Mullativu, Killinochchi and eastern districts.
Our correspondent noted that a similar situation was also experienced in the Jaffna district and minor rainfall was experienced in the area. Meanwhile, due to the inclement weather condition experienced in the area, a low attendance was seen in a number of schools.
Our correspondent added that fishermen from certain areas engaged in fishing even though a warning was given to refrain from setting out to see due to strong winds. Fishermen from some areas of the Mullativu district refrained from engaging in fishing activities on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre said that due to the deep depression residents living 100 metres away from the coast in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullativu areas must take precaution.
