A Sri Lankan was arrested by the Katunayake Airport Customs on Saturday morning along with a stock of telecommunication equipment and Bombay onion seeds.
Customs spokesperson Leslie Gamini said the individual was arrested after he was examined at the exit assigned for use by those who do not have anything to declare. Speaking further, he said that 60 pieces of telecommunication equipment 200 pieces of spare parts and Bombay onion seeds weighing 50 kilogrammes were found in the possession of the suspect.
The Customs Media Spokesperson said that a Rs. 50,000 penalty was imposed on the individual while the equipment and the seeds worth about Rs.400,000 were forfeited.
