The Election Secretariat says that measures are already underway to appoint new chairmen to provincial councils where the 2014 budgets were defeated.
Additional Commissioner of Elections, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that the General Secretary of the UPFA has been informed to appoint new chairmen at provincial councils where the budget was defeated twice. Thereby, the names of the new chairmen for the Mirigama, Peliyagoda and Kesbewa Provincial Councils have been given to the district secretaries by the general secretary of the UPFA.
At present, the 2014 budgets of nine provincials councils headed by the UPFA have been defeated on two occasions and measures are underway to appoint new chairmen to those respective councils as a result.
