The Ministry of Health has introduced three hotlines to receive complaints on outlets that sell food unsuitable for consumption to the public.

Complaints in this regard could be directed to the Ministry of Health, the Central Food Control Unit of the Colombo Municipal council and to the Consumer Affairs Authority.

The Ministry of Health said that starting Monday, raids would be conducted for a period of four days to outlets that sell food unsuitable for consumption. The Ministry said that all bakeries, canteens, restaurants as well as all other outlets that sell foods, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables as well as bottled water would be inspected.
