The postmortem examination into the three bodies of a mother and her two children, discovered in a house in the Kapugama area in Gandara on Sunday night is scheduled to be carried out at the Matara Hospital on Monday.
Police said that that further investigations will be conducted to confirm whether the death was a murder or a suicide.
The mother aged twenty-nine and her son and daughter aged 7 and 9 respectively were thus found on Sunday evening hanging from a rope inside the house.
Investigations revealed that the woman had been residing in the house with her children and that her husband had left the family around six months ago. The magisterial investigation into the incident was conducted on Sunday.
