The Chairman of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha who was allegedly assaulted has been hospitalised.

Police say that a complaint was lodged citing that he was attacked while he was leaving the Pradeshiya Sabha chambers due to a tense situation.

This was when the deputy chairmen attempted to conduct a vote after the chairmen had left the chambers. The budgets of both Pradeshiya Sabhas were defeated.

Newsfirst inquired from the Local Government Commissioner of the North Central Province regarding the validity of the voting process of the Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha budget.

She said that if sessions at the Pradeshiya Sabha were adjourned there is no validity in the voting process. However ,she requested for a report to be submitted to the Local Government Commissioner in this regard on Thursday.
