Twenty two (22) students of the Rajarata University were handed down one year prison sentences each. The verdict was delivered when the students were produced before Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Chandima Edirimanne.

The case was filed against the students over charges of vandalising university property and attacking a group of persons including the Dean of the Management Faculty of the Rajarata University.

The students were filed four indictments each granting three months in prison for each offence along with a five-year suspended prison sentence.
